12.07% method for irregular workers: For employees with no fixed hours, holiday pay can be calculated as 12.07% of hours worked in a pay period. This percentage is derived from the statutory 5.6 weeks entitlement divided by 46.4 working weeks (52 minus 5.6).

Carrying over leave: Of the 5.6 weeks statutory entitlement, 4 weeks are protected under the Working Time Regulations and must be allowed to carry over in certain circumstances (e.g. sickness, maternity). The remaining 1.6 weeks (8 days for full-time) can be lost if not taken, unless the contract states otherwise.
